Great Mexican Food in Carolina Beach
I love Mexican food.
No really, I do. Growing up in Tucson, Arizona, kids like me were pretty much raised on refried beans and quesadillas, burritos and tacos, horchata and deep fried ice cream.
You get the picture.
So when I get a chance to eat at a place like El Zarape located at 103 N. Lake Park Blvd in Carolina Beach, it brings back a lot of good memories for me, as well as satisfies my hunger for great Mexican food.
Featuring all the standards you'd expect, El Zarape has a great selection of burritos, fajitas, tacos, enchiladas, and seafood, as well as a good selection of Mexican beers and top shelf margaritas.
The food is piping hot, and the wait staff is friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is very authentic Mexican, reminding me of several restaurants I had visited while vacationing in Ensenada a few years back. The two-level dining area offers dining downstairs in the sunken dining room,
upstairs in the open balcony overlooking the first floor, or outside on the upstairs patio overlooking the main road through Carolina Beach.
My daughter and I really enjoyed the quesadillas, enchiladas, and tacos we ordered, my husband swears by the El Zarape burrito, and all of us agreed that El Zarape is one of the best Mexican restaurants we've been to in the area.
